Filled with passion for both design and fashion along with an admiration for craftsmanship, mother and daughter duo, Mónica Arbeláez and Juliana Quintero, decide to create Palma Canaria in 2016.
Palma Canaria is an innovative accessory brand made by hand in Colombia using natural fibers. Their designs are created with native plants, such as the Palma de Iraca, Bejuco, Esparto, and Hilo de Cobre, to evoke stories of their culture. All products are consciously cultivated with respect to animals, humans, and environmental welfare. Their products are handcrafted by talented artisans in four different regions of Colombia: Atlántico, Quindio, Boyacá, and Nariño and they hope to continue discovering more talent throughout the country. For them, fair work and recognition are fundamental, and they strive to have the artisans feel satisfied, empowered, and fulfilled in transmitting their culture and telling their story to the world.
They have been published in Colombian magazines FUCSIA, QUE ME PONGO and VEA, and international publications such as VOGUE MEXICO AND LATAM, MARIE CLAIRE USA, WEWOREWHAT, ELLE MEXICO, among others
