Ayni was born in the Amantani island where it holds a special place in the founder’s hearts; Adriana Cachay and Laerke Skyum. A brand created out of a common love for high-quality products, nature's finest materials, and strong economic and environmental engagement. They work closely to protect the heritage by practicing ancient knitting techniques into their collection which has become unique to their trademark look in knitwear.
The word 'Ayni' embodies the concepts of cooperation and reciprocity. It is used between the members of the Amantani's community, who work together and help one another. Today Ayni works with Amantani artisans knitters on special merchandise orders and continues to receive further training through their collaboration with the Chanel Foundation. They work with artisans from around the country; Amantani Island, Lake Titicaca, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region, Colca Canyon, Arequipa Region, and Lima.
Through Ayni they seek to set an example for the rest of the fashion and apparel industry by showing how ethics and aesthetics can join hands and encourage a more conscious lifestyle and consumption.
“Fashion is about making people look their best,
sustainable fashion is about making people be their best.”
