Kani Collection - Handwoven Reversible Camel & Cream Alpaca Throw Blanket From Ecuador

$280.00
Description

Loomed in the hills outside Otavalo, Ecuador, each Kani Collection alpaca throw blanket is a masterpiece of family craftsmanship—woven by a brother, sister, and their spouses who have perfected their traditional techniques over generations.

Every throw begins with yarn carefully wrapped around a large wooden spinning frame to map out the intricate design. The male artisans skillfully manage the loom’s tension—using strength and precision to achieve a perfectly tight, even weave that gives each blanket its soft structure and cozy drape.

Once woven, the women artisans hand-brush the fibers with a native plant called teasal, a time-honored technique that softens the alpaca fibers and enhances their natural warmth and luster. Each throw is then beautifully finished with hand-sewn edges, a mark of true artisan quality.

The Kani Collection features a reversible design, with one side showcasing rich camel color and the reverse revealing a softer, lighter camel tone on an off-white base. Elegant, versatile, and luxuriously soft, these handwoven alpaca throws bring both warmth and artistry to modern interiors.

At Purple Nest Design, we are deeply committed to preserving the weaving arts, helping you to decorate your home with timeless textiles that tell a beautiful story.
